Edward L. Lester

Edward L. “Edd” Lester, age 83, of Glade Spring, Va., passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born February 8, 1935, to the late Lacy G. Lester and Icy Miller Lester in Ieager, W. Va. Edd was a veteran of the United States Army and was of the Christian faith. He was employed by Commercial Credit as a loan officer and retired from the Washington County Virginia School System as a bus driver.

In addition to his parents, Edd was also preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, LeeRoy, and Howard Lester; brother-in-law, Dallard Lowe; and son-in-law, Kevin Bise.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia Thompson “Pat” Lester; daughter, Linda Thompson and husband, George, of Roanoke, Va.; son, Michael Lester and wife, Terry, of Roanoke, Va.; step-daughter, Loretta Bise of Bristol, Va.; step-son, Mark Davenport and wife, Barbara, of Abingdon, Va.; two sisters, Jean Lowe, and Ruth Ann Dales and husband, Starrett, all of Abingdon, Va.; four brothers: Paul Lester and wife, Polly, of Jonesville, Va.; Thurman Lester of Bluff City, Tenn.; James Lester and wife, Susie, of Abingdon, Va.; and Ralph Lester and wife, Linda, of Abingdon, Va.; two grandchildren, Billy and Sam Thompson of Roanoke, Va.; four step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends are left to mourn his passing.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Minister Ron Musick officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, Va. 24210.
