Mary Virginia “Jenny” Odum Clifton, age 82, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center. She was born June 4, 1935, to the late John Henry Odum, Sr. and Susie Webb Odum in Abingdon, Va. Jenny was a member of Abingdon First Church of God and retired from Abingdon Harwood.
In addition to her parents, Jenny was also preceded in death by her husband, William Mike Clifton; six brothers, Vasco Odum, Meredith “Mert” Odum, Harold “Preach” Odum, John Henry “June” Odum, Jr., James “Jim” Odum, and Lloyd Odum; three sisters, Henrietta Sue Roe, Neoma Clark, and Isabella “Lizzy” Arnold; and two step-sisters, Joyce Helbert and Bessie Lee Kestner.
She is survived by her son, Steve Nerren and wife, Alyson, of Bristol, Va.; two brothers, Sylvester “Hank” Odum and wife, Eunice, of Roanoke, Va. and Calvin “Cowboy” Odum and wife, Helen, of Abingdon, Va.; two sisters, Marie Campbell of Chilhowie, Va. and Elizabeth “Topsy” Dixon and husband, Arvin, of Wake Forest, N.C.; three step-brothers, Paul Clark and wife, Judy, of Abingdon, Va., Jimmy “Crow” Clark of Abingdon, Va., and Buddy Clark of Bristol, Va.; granddaughter, Emma Nerren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Bob Neace and Pastor Rodney Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Timmy Arnold, Jay Clark, Jimmy Clark, Arvin Dixon, Jonathan Kelly, Brian Odum, and Robby Statzer will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abingdon First Church of God, 500 Whites Mill Rd., Abingdon, Va. 24210.
