He was predeceased by his parents, Alvie Ray and Clara Ball Ray, his brother, Ivan Ray, Wise, VA and his beloved bloodhound, Katherine who died in April 2010. He is survived by his wife, Nelda Fern Ray, Chilhowie, VA, his sons, Ricky Ray and wife Patty, Abingdon, VA, Matthew Ray, Seven Mile Ford, VA and Martin Ray and wife Valerie, Chilhowie, VA, his brothers, Kyle Ray, Bristol, TN, Gary Ray, Charlotte, NC, his sister, Audrey Ray, Meadowview, VA, his grandchildren, Tiffany Burrington, Jessie Ray, Henry Ray, Rosa Ray and AJ Ray and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel, 427 East Main Street with a lifetime family friend, the Reverend Larkin Boothe officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael Meade, Roger Ball, Calvin Robinson, Emmett Boothe and other family members and friends.
