Name: Sarah Ellen Rudder Date: June 15th, 2010 Obituary: Sarah Ellen Rudder, 89, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at her home in Abingdon. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late Henry Craig and Bessie Mae Woodby Lowe. She had worked as a seamstress at Big Jack Sewing and later at Empire Restaurant. She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ace Rudder; eldest son, Frank Daniel Blackwell; two brothers, Clarence and Stewart Lowe; three sisters, Bertie Ruth Byrd, Eula Hoffman and Nettie Mae Sexton and her “favorite” son-in-law, Marcus Lowe. Survivors are her daughter, Shirley Lowe of Choctaw, OK; her son, John Blackwell of Manchester, TN; her sister, Ida Gay Rambo; three granddaughters; three grandsons; one step granddaughter; one step grandson and several great and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 17, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor John Stapleton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Farris Funeral Service.
