He was predeceased by a son, Wayne Fields, a daughter, Debra Fields, a brother Doug Fields and several half-brothers and half-sisters. He is survived by a son, David Jeff Fields and wife Mandy of Meadowview, VA; two daughters Peggy Fox and husband Wayne of Bluff City, TN and, Judy Fortner and husband Tom of Blountville, TN. One brother, Ervin (Ewens) Fields of Meadowview, VA and, two sisters Edna Glass of High Point, NC and Cosby Gobble of Meadowview, VA, and a special friend, Gloria McThenia. 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services for Garnett Fields will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon with Rev. John Surber officiating with burial following at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tim Fox, Josh Fox, Mike Jones, Jason Fortner, Steven Smith, Scott Rhea, and Kevin Fields. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
