Alberta McCall Copenhaver

March 3, 1932 — January 9, 2017

Alberta McCall Copenhaver, age 84, a lifelong resident of the Lodi Community of Washington County, Va., passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital.

She was born to the late John A. McCall, Sr. and Lucile Buchanan McCall on March 3, 1932. She was a lifetime member of Rock Spring Presbyterian Church, taught at Meadowview school for 25 years, was a member of the Oak Hill Extension Homemakers Club for over 60 years, served on the board and volunteered at the Washington County Fair for over 40 years, served with Washington County 4-H Clubs for over 50 years, and was a charter board member of the Washington County United Way. Alberta was known for her cookies having served them in her home, at local functions, and worldwide.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ernest E. Copenhaver; daughter, Susie C. Lang; and brother, John A. McCall, Jr.

Alberta is survived by her daughter, Cindy Jones and husband Phil; son, Gene Copenhaver and wife Jodi; son-in-law, Curtis Lang; seven brothers, Bill McCall, Tom McCall and wife Rose, Ed McCall and wife Brenda, Jim McCall and wife Carolyn, David McCall and wife Patty, Sam McCall, and Steve McCall and wife Betty Gayle; sister, Bettie Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Lenna McCall, Eula Roe, and Louise Gray and husband John; brother-in-law, Steward “June” Copenhaver; seven grandchildren, Matthew Hubble and wife Maggie, Michael Hubble and wife Amber, Kevin Lang, Lauren Lang, Brad Copenhaver, Will Copenhaver, and Jaymee Copenhaver; four great grandchildren, Lucas and Grayson Hubble and Savanah and Jebediah Hubble; numerous nieces and nephews; and her specials friends, the Meadowview Lunch Bunch, Washington County Fair Family, and Cattle Friends from all over.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Suzanne Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park where Alberta’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and her siblings will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the funeral home.
