Alvin "Al" Walton, 60, beloved and devoted husband of Patty Walton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 2, 2011. He passed from this earth surrounded by his loving family at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
In addition to his wife of twenty-nine years and her family, he is survived by his mother, Kathleen T. Walton of Chilhowie, VA; two sisters: Chris Corvin and husband Jim of Pensacola, FL, and Jeannie Harrington and husband Dusty of Pine Island, FL; one brother: Danny Walton and wife Robin of Chilhowie; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Walton; a brother, Ben Walton; and two cherished pets, Jasmine and Willow.
Al was a graduate of Chilhowie High School and Virginia Highlands Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Al was founder and owner of Shadetree Custom Auto Trim for twenty-five years. He especially enjoyed restoring antique cars. He also loved woodworking, nature, and all animals. At the time of his death, he was employed by Food City Distribution Center in Abingdon.
There are not enough wonderful adjectives to describe Al's gentle nature. He was inspiring to others even in his death. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The funeral service for Al Walton will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon with Minister Frank Branson and Ed Lambert officiating. Entombment will follow in Serenity Gardens Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with the Virginia Military Honors Team performing military rites. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. 3:45 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel.
