Annie Sheffield Henderson, 83, of Meadowview, VA received God's grace and mercy and peacefully passed away on June 5, 2011 at Valley Healthcare in Chilhowie, VA.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband John K. Henderson in 2009. Her parents Grey and Elizabeth Sheffield; two brothers, Carl and Frank Sheffield; and one sister, Martha Farris. Annie grew up in Glade Spring, VA, a town she dearly loved. She enjoyed sharing stories about "Plum Creek", the neighbors, and the fun they had as children. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle ways, kindness, and the love she had for others. Annie's pride and joy were her four sons. Always supporting them as they played sports for the Damascus Indians, Holston Cavaliers, and Emory and Henry Wasp. She retired with Iron Mountain Stoneware in Laurel Bloomery TN.
She is survived by four sons, Jack Henderson and his wife Barbara of Chilhowie, VA, John Henderson and his wife Carolyn of Damascus, VA, Vance Henderson and his wife Patricia of Mt. City, TN, Jerry Henderson and his wife Betsy of Roanoke, VA; two brothers, Bill and Jim Sheffield; four sisters, Mary Davenport, Jo Sexton, Georgia Kaiser, and Betty Cox; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, VA with Dr. Wayne Guynn officiating. Friends may call on the family at John and Carolyn Henderson's residence in Damascus, VA.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Suite 1050, Johnson City, TN 37604.
