Arlie Gene Jobe, Sr.

Meadowview, VA- Arlie Gene Jobe, Sr., age 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home with his family at his side. He was born to the late John C. Jobe and Alberta Lee Marcum Jobe on February 23, 1930 in Catlettsburg, KY. He served the United States Army during the Korean War and continued to serve his community through his involvement with VFW Post 1168 in Catlettsburg, KY and the American Legion Post 76 in Ashland, KY. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed picking the guitar. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his former spouse, Virginia Adams Jobe; two sons, Arlie Gene Jobe, Jr. and Joseph “Joe” Jobe; and two brothers, John “June” Jobe and Bob Jobe. He is survived by three daughters: Linda Jobe White and husband Randy of Plantersville, TX; Nina Jobe Sakellar and husband Michael of Bluff City, TN; and Janet Jobe Pippin and husband Gary of the home; son, Michael “Mike” Jobe of Kansas; step-son, Tony Phillipi and wife Nita of West Bloomfield, MI; two brothers, Leonard Jobe and wife Ada Rose of Catlettsburg, KY and Rufus D. “Pat” Jobe of Georgia; seventeen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on October 18, 2014 at Neal-Kilgore Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg, KY 41129. More specific service details will be announced at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and son-in-laws. A committal service will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, VA. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amy, Tisha, and Norma of Home Nursing of Southwest Virginia; caregiver and friend, Michelle McVey; Mac’s Medical Equipment; Dr. Kristin Yost; the staff of Wellmont BRMC 4th floor; and the nurses and staff of the Mountain Home VA Medical Center, Johnson City, TN. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 76, Ashland, KY.
