Ashley Daniell Dunford

Abingdon, VA- Ashley Daniell Whisnant Dunford, of Abingdon, VA, born January 12, 1983, and raised in Caldwell County, NC was over-powered by cancer Wednesday, June 10, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; infant son, Jonathan Harley; maternal paw paw and granny, Charles F. and Dolly Moser Whisnant; and special cousins, Lydia Dawn and Ronnie II. From a very early age, it was clear that Ashley was born to be a mother and thus she leaves us a legacy of six sons, Patrick, Thomas, Charlie, Luke, Bo, and Ryan; and a daughter, Emily. Ashley sang and played piano beautifully, but her greatest joy was loving her family. Those of us who celebrate and honor Ashley’s life are her dad and mom, John W. and Betty W. Phillips; brother, Joshua McLean; nephew, Jacob, all of Caldwell County, NC; six aunts and uncles; and a whole mess of cousins. We appreciate her loving companion, Tony Hill, for the support and strength he gave to her every day. Thank you, Tony. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Minister Bill Haywood officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.-1:50 p.m. Friday at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to any women’s crisis program or hospice of your choice.
