Barbara Ellen Mabe Wise, age 71, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Abingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born to the late Grady Mabe and Carrie Holmes Mabe. She is also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, J.C. Wise; three sons, Ricky Wise and wife Anita, Randall Wise, and Timothy Wise and wife Melissa all of Abingdon, VA; one daughter, Joyce Penson and husband Jim of Surgoinsville, TN; one brother, Bob Mabe and wife Clara of Abingdon, VA; one sister, Dixie Miller and husband Mark of Meadowview, VA; fifteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Methodist Cemetery, 20241 Green Spring Road Abingdon, VA 24211, at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 3, 2012 with Pastor David Robins officiating. Those wishing to go in procession to the cemetery on Monday are asked to convene at the funeral home by 10:00a.m. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Gavin Smith, Matthew Schnelle, Bradley Wise, Jacob Wise, Brandon Wise, Eugene Tignor, Matt Blevins, and Scott Wise. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Mann, Buddy Mann, Bobby Wise, Mike Wise, Jim Penson, Brandon Mann, and Daryl Mabe.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Abingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center, Johnston Memorial Hospital, and Hometown Hospice.
