Benny Cyle Presley, age 77, passed on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Grace Health Care. Mr. Presley was of the Baptist faith and a Vietnam Veteran having retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service. Benny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert "Doc" Presley and Julie Hess Presley; his wife of 32 years, Mildred "Micky" Jones Presley; and four brothers.
He is survived by two daughters, Libby (Tommy) Alexander and Crystal Thomas, both of Abingdon, VA; one son, Eddie Lee (Teresa) Thomas, Jr. of Glade Spring, VA; two sisters, Velma Childress and Charlotte (Joe Harvey) Childress, both of Vansant, VA; and a loving granddaughter, Brittany Summer Alexander.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Tim Norris officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Tommy Alexander, Ricky Smith, Jason Wise, Jimmy Hearl, Eddie Thomas, and Johnny Jones serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Mink, Chris Dykes, and Bill Keller. Military Rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highlands Veterans Honor Guard, 18162 Black Hollow Road, Abingdon, VA 24210, in Mr. Presley's name.
