Berkley M. Davidson

Bristol, TN - Berkley M. Davidson, age 82, passed on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home. Berkley was born in Saltville, VA to the late L.L. “Monk” Davidson and Mae Cahill Davidson. Mr. Davidson moved his family to Bristol in 1960 and was a longtime member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church. Berkley retired from Raytheon after 34 years of employment during which he served as the program manager for the Hawk, Seasparrow, and Patriot Missiles. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Davidson was a former member of the Bristol Country Club, was an avid golfer, and loved Virginia Tech. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Davidson; and son-in-law, Greg Kinch. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Henegar Davidson; sons, John (Cindy) Lamie of Abingdon, VA, David (Karen) Lamie of Newport Beach, CA, and Jimmy (Cheri) Davidson of Leesburg, VA; two daughters, Sharon (Harvey) Jones of Bristol, TN and Jennifer Kinch of Roswell, GA; eight grandchildren, Tracey (Mike) Dixon, Blair (Audra) Jones, Courtney Lamie, Kirsten Lamie, Griffin Lamie, Elizabeth Lamie, Drew Davidson, and Sydney Davidson; and four great-grandchildren, Adilyn Jones, Emma Ruth Jones, Austin Dixon, and Braeden Dixon. A cryptside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Reverend James Oxendine officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Virginia Avenue UMC and former coworkers from Raytheon. Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday just prior to the service at the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church, 1127 Virginia Avenue, Bristol, TN 37620, in Mr. Davidson’s name.
