Betty "Ruth" Gobble, age 81, a lifelong resident of Abingdon, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at Valley Healthcare after an extended illness. Betty was the widow of Lewis Gobble and daughter of the late Bessie Nash.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Wayne Terry of Abingdon; grandsons Justin Terry of Roanoke and Johnathan Terry of Abingdon; sisters Bettie Morrison and Joyce Harmon of Abingdon; sister-in-law Virginia Gobble of Roanoke; brothers Tom Casey of Bristol and Jackie Nash of Abingdon; four nieces and two nephews.
A graveside service for Betty "Ruth" Gobble will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are invited to meet at the cemetery by 12:20 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. â?? 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Flowers will be appreciated, and memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Ruth's daughter would like to thank the staff of Valley Healthcare for the care of her mother for the past several months.
