Betty Lou Buttrey

Bristol, VA – Betty Lou Alexander Buttrey, age 81, passed on Wednesday, May 06, 2015, at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA. Betty was a seamstress for many years and later made many friends while selling furniture at the Southwest Virginia Tobacco Warehouse. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ballard and Janie Kathleen Fogleman Alexander; husband, Joe Buttrey; three brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her siblings, Johnnie Alexander of Shady Valley, TN, Dale (Joyce) Alexander of Abingdon, VA, Wayne (Tammy) Alexander of Shady Valley, TN, Mary Ellen Cassidy of Bristol, VA, and Glenna Sue Alexander of Bristol, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held 3:00 – 3:45 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Mike Alexander officiating.
