Betty McNew Lampkin, 89, passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 in Jonesborough.
She was born in Washington County, VA and was a daughter of the late Floyd Kestner and Frances Gentry Kestner. She was an excellent homemaker and cook and was well known for her sewing and cooking. She had attended Chestnut Grove Community Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Harvey McNew; her second husband, Tommy Lampkin; a daughter, Phyllis Bouton and sons, Roby McNew and Jesse McNew.
Survivors are step daughters, Martha Horn and Wanda Couch; grandchildren, Michael, James and Landon Holt, Angela Brinley and Timmy, David, Rocky and Kim McNew; sister-in-law, Ruth Scott and daughter-in-law, Betty McNew.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Olen Cassell officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Michael Holt, Landon Holt, Timmy McNew and David McNew.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. Main St. Abingdon from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday.
