Mrs. Betty Ruth Murray, 78, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at her home.

She was born December 24, 1932 in Washington County, VA and is preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Jane Tolliver; a brother, Jack Tolliver; sister, Helen Casteel; great granddaughter, Regina Eutsler; father-in-law, Gilmer Murray, Sr.; brother-in-law, Donald Murray and a daughter-in-law, Sabrina Murray.

Survivors are her husband, Gilmer J. Murray, Jr.; her daughter, Cynthia Murray of Abingdon; sons, Gilmer J. "Buzz" Murray, III of Abingdon, Rick Murray and wife, Barbara of Charlottesville, VA and Bobby Murray of Abingdon; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Murray of Abingdon, Rosa Lee Snodgrass of North Carolina and Peggy Hill of Bluefield, WV; eight grandchildren, Sonya Lee Roark and husband, Adam, Jackie Murray, Bethany Murray and special friend, Blake Forrester, Bobbie Jo Murray and special friend, Lance Campbell, Robert Murray, John Paul Murray, Penny Roach and David Murray; ten great grandchildren, Michael Allen Eutsler, Jr., Alex Eutsler, Austyn Roach, Gilmer C. Murray, Aaden Eskridge, Russell Roach, Jason Roach, James Roach, Victoria Roach, Conner Murray and Lilly Murray; special friends, Chuck Wright and Willie and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Francis Murray, Lester and Lois Murray, Walter and Shirley Murray and Nellie Scyphers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Ken Holmes officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Committal services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her three sons and Dean Murray, Andy Eskridge, Adam Roark, Robert Murray, John Paul Murray, Russell J. Roach, Jr. and David Murray. The funeral procession from Farris Funeral Service will leave at 10:45A.M., Wednesday.
