Betty V. Blair, 81, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at her home.

She was born June 24, 1930 in Logan , West Virginia and was a daughter of the late Cornell and Velma Sabo Vasian. She had spent most of her life in New Mexico and Arizona , but settled in Abingdon in the 80's after the death of her husband, Wayne Blair. She retired as Executive Director of the Southwest Virginia Association of Realtors.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Jim Avis.

Survivors include her daughters, Jayne Hazelton and husband, Prescott and Beverly Walton; her sister, Barbara Baldwin and husband, Robert; niece, Lisa Harrison and husband, Nathan and their children, Allison and Nate and wife, Bryn and nephew, Robert Baldwin and wife, Susan and their children, Rob, Beth and William.

Also surviving are special caretakers, Linda Remines, Sherri Philips, Becky Treaster and Lisa Johnson; special friends, Pam Brown, Phyllis and Hope McKenney; Christie, Tonya, Brenda and all the friends at Merle Norman and April Dales.

The family would also like to thank the Staff of Hometown Hospice, Teresa, Jessica, Pat, Tracey; the staff of JMH CCU, PCU and 3100; Dr. Swank; Dr. Cox and Elizabeth and Ray Eskew and neighbors, Nancy and Ron; Roger and Brenda; and Lorraine.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Timothy Bird officiating. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 P.M. Saturday.
