Blaine C. Owens, 65, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn. Blaine was a deacon in Rush Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Washington County, Va., and was a retired engineer from Tennessee Eastman. He enjoyed bluegrass music and also enjoyed playing various musical instruments.
Blaine was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom Kermit Owens and Beuna Kiser Owens; his sister Sharon Southerland, and his brother-in-law Dee Duty.
Blaine is survived by his wife of 41 years, Robin McNew Owens; two sons, Keith Owens and wife Erica, and Andrew Owens and wife Donna; seven grandchildren: Katlyn, Kian, MacKenzi, Jerry, Bailey, Riley and Kali; sister Lana Duty; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Elder Larry Blevins, Elder Benny Blevins, and Elder Kenneth Presnell officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, where pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA.
