Bonnie Montgomery Denton, 85, of the Denton 's Valley Community went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, December 31, 2011.
She was the daughter of the late B.P. and Mary Blevins Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Shannon Lee Denton; a sister, Bertha Montgomery Denton and a brother, Danville Montgomery.
She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a devoted Christian daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Her favorite place to be was in the choir at church. She had been employed at Lincoln Industries, Damascus Hosiery Mill, Camp Sequoia and Troy Laundry before retiring to enjoy her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, all of Denton 's Valley; Mary Ann Wright and husband, Bud, Dot Sweet and husband, Willis, Linda Vannoy and husband, Terry and Larry Denton. "Maw Bonnie" is also survived by seven grandchildren; Curtis Wright, Janet Baldwin, Nicky Sweet, Penny Carrier, Lori Sullins, Priscilla Miller, and Heath Denton; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Lewis Montgomery; two sisters, Georgia Widener and Myrtle Keith.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Holston Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Ketron officiating. Interment will follow in the Montgomery Cemetery in Denton 's Valley. Casketbearers will be grandsons, grandsons-in-law, and great grandsons; Curtis Wright, Nicky Sweet, Heath Denton, Eddie Baldwin, Jamie Sullins, Gary Carrier, Jr., Darren Miller, Mitchell Wright, and Wesley Sweet.
