Mr. C.W. (Pat) Price, 75, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born and raised in Washington County, Virginia and graduated from Meadowview High School. C.W. was employed by Norfolk Southern Railway for 30 years, retiring as a Senior Project Engineer. After his retirement, he worked as a Project Inspector for STV, Inc., an architectural and engineering firm.
C.W. was a devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Meadowview, Va., where he served as Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee and as a member of the Church Van Committee. His hobbies included fishing and reading. C.W. was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he had a multitude of friends everywhere.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Preston Price and Patsy Ruth Jackson Price, and by one sister, Barbara Price Odum. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Humphreys Price; daughters Christie Whelen and husband Robert of Sparks, Md., and Loria (Buffy) Porcaro and husband Michael of Arlington, Va.; grandchildren John Price Whelen and Kevin Robert Whelen; brothers Paul Vernon Price and wife Janice of Abingdon, and Douglas Preston Price and wife Janet of Chesapeake, Va.; brother-in-law Calvin (Cowboy) Odum; sisters-in-law Lavinia Cullip, Bert Parsons, Lois Humphreys, Mary Ann Humphreys and Phyllis Humphreys; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for C.W. Price will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Chad Johnson officiating. The committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where John Whelen, Kevin Whelen, Robert Cullip, Steve Parsons, David White, and Matthew White will serve as pallbearers. Following the committal service, the family will receive friends at a reception and celebration of C.W.s life at Fellowship Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 14221 Ravenswood Drive, Meadowview, VA 24361, or to Meadowview First, Inc., Post Office Box 530, Meadowview, VA 24361.
