Carlene Greene Crisp

August 5, 1932 — February 6, 2018

Carlene Greene Crisp (85) died Tuesday, February 6 at English Meadows Manor in Abingdon, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Carl Willis Greene and Georgia Chastain Greene. Carlene was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Greene and her former husband Dr. Gentry O. Crisp both of Canton, North Carolina.
Carlene was a graduate of Canton High School, Western Carolina College (BA), and the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) with a Masters in Library Science.
In 1976 Carlene moved first to Atlanta, Georgia, and then to California where she designed and managed a branch of the Roseville, California library. Carlene moved to Glade Spring, Virginia in 2006 to be near family.
Carlene is survived by her son Jonathan G. Crisp (Allyson) of Glade Spring, Virginia, her daughter Carla Standingdeer (Jim) of Marshall, North Carolina, an Aunt Opal G. Mann of Asheville, North Carolina, a niece Robin Black of Canton, North Carolina, and nephews Steve and Wayne Henson of Clyde, North Carolina. Carlene is also survived by three grandchildren: Benjamin, Isaac, and Jennifer Crisp, and one great grandchild, Laura Crisp.
The family appreciates the care provided by the staff at English Meadows and Caris.
