Damascus, VA – Carol Ann Vestal Barr of Damascus answered her final call on June 19, 2021. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles Ray Barr, her parents Georgia Ann Elliott Vestal and Andy Lee Vestal Sr. Siblings Andy (Buddy) Vestal Jr, Mary Vestal Parker and Robert (Bobbie) Glenn Vestal.
She is survived by two daughters and spouses Nancy and Sam Campbell and Sharon and Bill Clark, and brother James (Jimmy) Vestal. She also is survived by grandchildren who were the light of her life, Bobbie Jo Clark, and Sammy Campbell and wife Tomie Jo. Survivors also include several Sisters-in-Law, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Carol was a Registered Nurse who worked for years in the Emergency Department at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was also an EMT-I and took great pride in her volunteer service. She was a founding member of the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad where she served many years as Captain and President. Carol loved the entire EMS Community and devoted much of her time and energies to its service.
Pallbearers will be members of the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad. Honorary pall bearers will be the many healthcare providers who assisted Carol through the years, members of the EMS Community, and everyone who knew and loved her. Thank you to Judy Duncan and Kenny Hay for their loving assistance to Carol. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 458, Damascus, VA 24236.
A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2021, in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA with Mike Rush officiating. EMS agencies, family and friends who wish to travel in procession to the graveside are asked to meet at Farris Funeral Service between 9:00-9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
