Charles Glenford Boardwine

Charles Glenford Boardwine, age 97, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Valley Healthcare in Chilhowie.
Charles was born in Saltville, VA on September 1, 1913 and lived most of his life in Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Holmes Boardwine, and sons, Wayne and Ronald Boardwine.
Survivors include his daughter, Vickie B. Powers, Chattanooga, TN; a brother, Major Boardwine and wife Frankie of Saltville, VA; a sister, Cleatus Mumpower of Glade Spring, VA; three grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Charles Boardwine will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Bill Haywood, minister officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon. The men of Abingdon Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Boardwine's family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Farris Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Abingdon Church of Christ, 19508 Dennison Drive, Abingdon, VA 24211.
