Charles William Davidson

Mr. Charles William "C.W." Davidson, age 82, slipped peacefully into Glory on August 10, 2013 following complications from Parkinson's disease.
He was born on February 11, 1931 in Plasterco, VA to the late Ernest William and Mollie Boyd Davidson. C.W. graduated from Glade Spring High School and attended VPI. He served as superintendent of the board plant at US Gypsum Company in Plasterco, VA and retired after 46 years of service. C.W. was a member of the Gideon Ministry , served two terms on the Washington County School Board, and was a member the Byars-Cobbs Memorial United Methodist Church in Glade Spring, VA where he served as a Lay Leader, Sunday School Superintendent and Treasurer. C.W. especially enjoyed studying his Bible, outdoor recreation with his family, the music of Johnny Cash, antique cars and visiting with his neighbors.
Mr. C.W. Davidson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Sanders Davidson of Glade Spring, VA; three sons: Ron Davidson of Bristol, TN, Wes Davidson and wife Vickie of Mountain City, TN, Jon Davidson and wife Laura of Burlington, NC; two daughters, Sharon Singleton and husband Jerry of Glade Spring, VA and Mona Salyer and husband Mark of Bristol, VA. C.W. is also survived by one sister, Eleanor "Sis" Davidson Inscho of Stuart, FL. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren; Eric and Connor Davidson, Kama Hutton, Amanda Forbes, Nikki Davidson, Mollie, Max and Macon Salyer, Daniel, Matthew, Rebekah and Emilee Davidson; and 5 great grandchildren Claudia Davidson, Keagan; and Kolton Hutton, Audrey and Harrison Forbes. Numerous cousins and special friends and neighbors also survive.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Byars-Cobbs Memorial United Methodist Church; P.O. Box 667; Glade Spring, VA 24340. The family wishes to extend special thanks to C.W.'s caregivers at Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City, TN.
Services for Mr. Charles William "C.W." Davidson will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday August 12, 2013 at the Farris Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Paul Griffith officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 7:30 pm at the funeral home before the service. Interment will follow at the Mount Rose Cemetery; Glade Spring, VA on Tuesday August 13, 2013 at 11:00 am.
