Christine Burke Hardwick, 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was born March 15, 1932 in Abingdon and was a daughter of the late Joe and Willis Brown Burke. She retired as co-owner of Burke Print Shop and she had been the Manager of Second Harvest Food Bank.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Douglas Hardwick and 1 sister, Louise Jones.
Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Stevenson; 1 brother, Joe W. "Buddy" Burke, Sr. and wife, Nannie; 1 sister, Daisy Campbell; and 2 grandchildren, Erik Stevenson of Arlington, VA and Sarah "Niki" Stevenson of Abingdon, VA.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon with Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Patterson, Joey Burke, Steven Burke and Tony Dodi.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Feeding America Southwest VA, PO Box 2579, Abingdon, VA 24212, please designate "kitchen."
