Clara A. Miller

April 19, 1922 — August 26, 2013

Clara Adell Widener Miller, age 91, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Grace Healthcare. She was born to the late Martin Luther Widener and Lilly Greer Widener on April 19, 1922. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert Preston Miller, Sr.; three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Robert Preston Miller, Jr. and wife Virginia of Meadowview, VA; daughter, Nancy Miller Runyon and husband Robert of Roanoke, VA; sister, Alma Widener Garrett of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren: Pattie Goldenberg and husband Mike of Boca Raton, FL; Sherry Falls and husband Bryan of Roanoke, VA; Jennifer Kimbler and husband William of Bristol, VA; and Robert Preston Miller III and wife Susan of Greenville, SC; seven great- grandchildren: Courtney Falls, Darryl Falls, Nathan Goldenberg, Drew Goldenberg, Mitchell Goldenberg, Brennon Kimbler, and Ian Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Miller's family would like to offer a special "thank you" to Rose Deaver and Mary Simons, her home caregivers, and to Home Nursing Service of Southwest Virginia, especially Donna. They offer a special, special "thank you" to Marie Cacy, Mrs. Miller's longtime friend and neighbor. They are also very thankful for the friendship of neighbors Marty and family, Gary and family, Jimmy Cutshaw and family, Francis and family, Charlotte Riggle and family, the Edmondson family, Gary Hammer and family, and George Hutton and family.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Reverend Michael Somers officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 30, to travel in procession to Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery for a committal service. Friends and family will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Miller's favorite color was red, so guests are encouraged to wear red in her honor.
