Abingdon, VA Clara Alice Hatfield Myers, age 66, passed on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Clara was raised in Mingo County, WV, raised her family in Grapevine Hollow in McDowell County, WV, and moved to Abingdon, VA in 2002. She was a member of Fall Hill Apostolic Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ruth Ann Buchanan Hatfield; daughter, Cynthia Pookie Ray; and brothers, Jack Johnson, Tommy Johnson, and Ernest Buchanan.
She is survived by four daughters, Florence (Michael) Jackson of Abingdon, VA, Jeannie (Ricky) Kennedy of Chilhowie, VA, Rita (Roger) Davis of Raysal, WV, and Jolene Shaver of Abingdon, VA; sister, Romaine Jo Johnson of Abingdon, VA; two brothers, Ted (Cindy) Hatfield of Dover, OH and Roger Harris of Waynesboro, MS; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held 5-9 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Forest Hills Chapel, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA, of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Paul White and Rev. Ralph Brewster officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Ricky Kennedy, Roger Davis, Michael Jackson, James Hatfield, Oggie Davis, and Cameron Allen serving as pallbearers. Henry Shaver will be an honorary pallbearer.
