Mr. Clyde Junior Ray, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018, in the comfort of his homeHe was a lifelong resident of Washington County, son of the late Lon and Tisha Ray. He was known as “the gravel man,” hauling gravel in the community for fifty years.
Clyde was a family man. He treated everyone the same – with a smile, a hard time, and leaving you with a hug!
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary; one daughter Christina Ray; brothers Harvey, Carl, Henry, Robert and Walter; and sisters Irene McElraft and Patty Ray.
He is survived by his daughter Melinda Doss of Meadowview; sister Bessie Hess of Glade Spring; grandchildren Blake Doss and Hannah Doss; special nephew Frank McElraft; good friend Becky Goodman; and his faithful companion dog Tiny.
The funeral service for Clyde Junior Ray will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Kenneth Poston officiating. Burial will follow at Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery where pallbearers will be his grandson Randall Doss, Ethan Caudill, Daniel Hess, David Hess, John Hess and Justin Wilson. The family will receive friend at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
