Cora Teaters Blevins, 96, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA with her loving family by her side.
She was a lifetime member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church in Chilhowie, VA. She was born February 28, 1915 the daughter of the late Will and Lettie Teaters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Earl W. Blevins; a son, Joe Allen "Bud" Blevins; 5 brothers, Bradley, Herbert, Allen, Everette and Graham and 5 sisters, Mary, Bertha, Rose, Ennis and Nerva.
Surviving are her 5 children, Pauline Anderson and husband, Joe, Lowell Blevins and wife, Rosemary, Joel Blevins and wife, Debbie, Rocky Blevins and wife, Brook all of Abingdon, VA and Willis Blevins and wife, Wanda of Marion, VA; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Cindy Rowland and husband, Rex of Marion, VA and special friend, Sue Lloyd of Bristol, VA
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Grosses Creek Baptist Church in Chilhowie, VA with Rev. Jerry Eggers, Rev. Carl Young and Pastor George Jessee officiating. Interment will follow in Grosses Creek Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Brad Blevins, Chad Blevins, Roger Blevins, Kevin Blevins, Jerry Anderson and R.J. Pasco.
The family will be receiving friends at the Forest Hills Chapel, located on the grounds of Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Grosses Creek Baptist Church, c/o Jackie Blevins, 250 Flatwood Acres, Chilhowie, VA 24319.
