Coy Hubert Haworth, 73, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN.

Hubert served in the Army as a Paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He worked in transportation for over forty-four years. He started as a dispatcher in Bristol, VA, and later transferred to Greeneville, TN, where he opened and was the Manager of a terminal for Smith Transfer. He moved to Jacksonville, FL, as a District Regional Manager and retired from Old Dominion Freight Line in Jacksonville, FL, as a District Sales Representative.

He was a member of the Moose Club and the Traffic Club in Greeneville, TN, and the Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity in Jacksonville, FL.

Hubert grew up in the Cleveland Community, which he loved so dearly. He was active in the community as a member of the Cleveland EPC Church where he served as an Elder. Hubert also helped to build and operate the Cleveland Community Center, where he also served as Chairman of the Board.

Hubert was a wonderful, loving husband, father and brother to his family, and he will be so greatly missed by us all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil King Haworth II and Elsie Mae Fenner Haworth; and two sisters: Linda Marie Cross and Louise Haworth.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years, Ruby Lowe Haworth; one daughter, Valarie H. Laney and husband Rick of Deland, FL; one son, Gregory C. Haworth and wife Cyndi of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren: Christen Hollerman and husband Colby; Ryan Thompson, Joshua Thompson, and Peyton Thompson; six brothers: Robert "Wimp" Haworth of Carnesville, GA; William "Bill" Haworth and wife Nancy of Abingdon, VA; Larry Haworth and wife Peggy of Abingdon; Thomas "Tom" Haworth and wife Linda of Asheville, NC; Donald Haworth and wife Mary of Kingsport, TN; and Cecil K. "Bud" Haworth III and wife Barbara of Abingdon; three sisters: Patsy Haworth of Abingdon, VA; Judy Stubbs of Conway, SC; and Mary Rawson of Pikesville, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Hubert Haworth will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Cleveland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Keith Cobb and the Rev. Tom Musselman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 4, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cleveland Presbyterian Church or Cleveland Community Center, 18003 Cleveland Church Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
