Creed Fulton Pursifull, age 76, left his loving family here on Earth to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was born in Balkan, KY on March 20, 1937 to the late William Fulton Pursifull and Reba Wilder Pursifull. He is also preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Rutherford; granddaughter, Stephanie Nicole "Nikki" Smith; and grandson, Zachary Benjamin Pursifull.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn Sue Pursifull; son, William Thomas Pursifull of Meadowview, VA; three daughters, Lori Ann Baxley of Abingdon, VA, Cynthia "Cin" Renee Keen and husband Rodney of Belfast, VA, and Sara Marie Snead and husband Timmy of Abingdon, VA; brother, Otto Pursifull and wife Bonnie of Georgetown, KY; grandson, William Thomas "TJ" Pursifull II; six granddaughters, Amanda Blankenship and fianc�© Ernie Yost, Tabitha Hughes and husband Maurice "Mo", Tara Pursifull, Tiffany Smith, Mattie Snead, Bentlea Snead, three great grandsons, Landon Smith, Dominic Hughes, and Taytumn Blankenship.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Greenfield Baptist Church, 13514 Glenbrook Avenue, Meadowview, VA 24361, with Reverend Thomas Capron officiating. Interment will follow in Greenfield Baptist Cemetery where Rodney Keen, William Thomas "TJ" Pursifull II, Maurice "Mo" Hughes, Ernie Yost, Timmy Snead, and John Pursifull will serve as pallbearers. Deacons of Greenfield Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military honors will be presented by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the third floor and ICU nurses and staff of Johnston Memorial Hospital; especially CNAs, Rachel, Ashley, and Amanda.
