Dallas Jessie Wise, Sr.

Mr. Dallas Jessie Wise, Sr., age 89, of Abingdon, Va., passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016, in his home.

Mr. Wise was born in Washington County, Va. on December 10, 1927, to the late Fullen Wise and Mandy Reynolds Wise. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation with 23 years of service. Mr. Wise was a member of the Revival Center Church.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, three half-brothers, and one half-sister.

Mr. Wise is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lucille Wise, whom he married on December 24, 1951; he is also survived by three sons: Dallas Jessie Wise, Jr. and wife, Stella of Abingdon, Va.; Guy Russell Wise of Abingdon, Va.; and Ricky Allen Wise of Abingdon, Va.; daughter, Dorothy Maxine Tate and husband, Chris of Meadowview, Va.; brother, Daniel Wise and wife, Nancy of Bristol, Va.; two half-brothers, Vince Tignor of Poor Valley, Va. and L.V. Tignor and wife, Joy of Detriot, Mich.; two sisters: Mary Hunter of Bristol, Va. and Willa Mae Black of Bristol, Va.; four half-sisters: Leo Tweed of Abingdon, Va.; Jane Arnold and husband, Guy of Bristol, Va.; Nannie Bee Wise and husband, Vergil of Mendota, Va.; and Betty and husband Larry of Carbo, Va.; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Va. 24210, with Rev. Lyons Smith, Rev. Leo Rhymer, and Pastor Jason Nunley officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Forest Hills Chapel prior to the service.
