Darla Dae Wingo Barrow, age 67, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
She was born May 17, 1943 in Cedar Bluff, VA to William Walter "Bill" and Dorothy Van Dyke "Dot" Wingo. She was a graduate of Richlands High School, Richlands, VA Class of 1961 and an RN graduate of Johnston Memorial School of Nursing in Abingdon. She served as an RN at Johnston Memorial Hospital for over 37 years.
She is survived by her husband, Jack C. Barrow of Abingdon; her daughter, Mary Barrow Murphy and husband, Joe of Nashville, TN; her son, Jack Chesley Barrow, II and his partner, Mark Livanec of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, granddaughter Lindsey Murphy Christenbury and husband, Aaron of Ft. Bragg, NC; grandson, Sean Thomas Murphy of Nashville, TN and the cutest GREAT-grandbaby on the planet, Miss Brelyn "Bean" Christenbury also of Ft. Bragg, NC. Darla is also survived by her sister, Dottie Lee Wingo of Roanoke, VA and her brother, William W. Wingo III and wife, Wanda Carver Wingo also of Roanoke.
Darla is preceded in death by her parents, William Walter "Bill" and Dorothy Van Dyke "Dot" Wingo; and her son, William Armistead Barrow, who passed away February 11, 2010
Funeral services for Mrs. Darla Barrow will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 124 E. Main St, Abingdon with Rev. Dr. Craig R. Wylie officiating. Vestry members will serve as pallbearers. Graveside services and burial will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in the fellowship hall of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nursing Staff at Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620 or St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 124 E. Main St. Abingdon, VA 24210.
