David Leonidas Hoyle III

David Leonidas Hoyle III, born March 27, 1938, died at the age of 73 on Friday, December 23, 2011, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon , VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances Hoyle and David Leonidas Hoyle, Jr.
David graduated from Aycock School in Henderson , NC and attended NC State University where he studied agriculture. This led to thirty-eight years working as an avid farmer. He was recognized for his hard work and known for his integrity, fairness and commitment to his ideals. David enjoyed hunting, sports, and riding his beloved horse Master. Throughout his life, including his final days, he exemplified the qualities of enduring faith and abiding love for his family and friends. He was a lifelong member of Carey Baptist Church in Henderson , NC . The past ten years he attended Abingdon Baptist Church .
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Heath-Hoyle; son David Gabriel "Gabe" Hoyle, of the home; son William Hoyle and wife Ginger of Henderson, NC; daughter Tammy Hoyle of Creedmore, NC; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Faye and Max Wilson of Henderson, NC, and Jackie and Marvin Gray of Grapevine, TX. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great- grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, December 26, 2011, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street in Abingdon. A memorial service will begin at noon in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steven Pollard officiating. Interment will follow in the Middle Fork Cemetery in Chilhowie , VA. The family will also receive friends at the home anytime located at 25363 Hillman Highway , Abingdon (across from the 4-H Center).
