David M. Payne, 73, passed on Sunday, May 5, 2019, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. David was a long-time employee of Brown Dairy Farms and is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Payne; parents, J.R. Payne and Lula Ellen Surcy Payne; and sister, Sarah Huntington.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne Payne and wife Beth of Bristol, Va., and Joey Payne and wife Dolly of Abingdon, Va.; daughter, Susan Wright of Abingdon, Va.; three brothers, Huvel Payne of Jonesboro, Tenn., Jackie Payne and wife Susan of Jonesboro, Tenn., and Gene Payne and wife Sharon of Johnson City, Tenn.; three sisters, Sue Preze, Brenda Cole and husband Duane, and Anna Humphreys and husband Gary, all of Jonesboro, Tenn.; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Holston Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Paul Ketron officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Reynolds, Jimmy Neal, J.R. French, Brad Ball, Irvin Brown, and Preston Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to offset funeral expenses.
