Douglas Eugene DeBusk

March 21, 1931 — September 28, 2013

Douglas Eugene DeBusk, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Mountain Home VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. He was born on March 21, 1931 to the late Hobert Timothy DeBusk and Virginia DeBusk. He retired from the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant having served his country for 24 years. He saw action during the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and a member of the DAV James E. Peters Chapter 57.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Reid DeBusk, and brother, Billy Joe DeBusk.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria Brunhilda "Hilda" Frudenberger DeBusk; son, Billy DeBusk of Abingdon, VA; two daughters, Virginia Charlotte Smith of Bristol, VA and Evelyn Trierwiler of Germany; brother, Timothy H. "Sonny" DeBusk; three grandchildren, Nicole Gibson, Andy Trierwiler, and Heath DeBusk; and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Reverend Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
