Douglas McArthur "Mack" Rasnake, 70, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 12, 2012. Born on February 20, 1942, in Dickenson County, Virginia, he was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel R. and Tandy L. Rasnake.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Frances Carroll Barton Rasnake and their children, Tammy Cullop and her husband Doug of Mendota, VA; Bridget Bartley and Tim Farmer of Abingdon; and Erik Rasnake of Abingdon; five grandchildren: Travis Rasnake, Lacey Rasnake, Morgan Fletcher and husband Travis, Kayla Ball, and Josh Cullop; two great-grandchildren, Kasey Ball and Berkley Fletcher; five brothers, three sisters, several nieces and nephews; cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Mack was a loving husband, devoted father, and a proud Poppy. Heaven has surely gained a new angel.
Graveside services for Mack Rasnake will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012, at Rasnake Family Cemetery in Dickenson County, VA. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post #9864. Active pallbearers will be Josh Cullop, Travis Rasnake, Scott Rasnake, Tim Sutherland, Brian Rasnake and Matthew Rasnake. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Rasnake, Jason Bush, Tim Marshall, Darrell Rasnake, Ben Campbell, Jeff Campbell, Wade Sutherland, Jeff Gilbert and Tandy Sutherland. Those wishing to attend the service are invited to meet at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the J.D. and Lorraine Nicewonder Cancer Center at Bristol Regional Medical Center, 1 Medical Park Boulevard, Bristol, TN 37620.
