Douglas Patrick Terry

Douglas Patrick “Doug” Terry, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on his 70th birthday, Friday, June 22, 2018, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.  He was born to the late James David Terry and Rita Carper Terry in Charleston, W.Va.  Doug graduated from Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Va. and received a degree in Petroleum Engineering from West Virginia University.  Over the years he was employed by several different companies and most recently Range Resources in Abingdon, Va. and held several offices with the local Chapter of Society Petroleum Engineers.          

In addition to his parents, Doug was also preceded in death by three brothers, Steve, Bruce, and Duke Terry.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Hamel Terry; two sons, Craig Douglas Terry and wife, Chelsea, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. and John David Terry of Abingdon, Va.; sister, Jan Tennant and husband, Reg, of Birmingham, Ala.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the West Virginia University Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources,1374 Evansdale Dr., Morgantown, WV 26506.
