Edwin Jessie Brown, age 99, died Friday, February 4, 2011 in Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Brown was retired from Vance Supply Co after a lifelong career in the hardware business, and a well known Green Springs farmer. He was a member of the Sinking Springs Presbyterian Church and past President and charter member of the Abingdon Lion's Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Sullivan Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by his son, Philip E Brown and wife, Elizabeth, of Charlotte, NC. ; brother, James Brown and wife, Ruby, of Bristol, VA.; grandchildren, Benjamin Brown and wife, Rajni, of Wilmington, NC, Lara Classe and husband, Michael, of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 1:00 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jon Elliott Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until the time of the service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Eyesight Fund, Abingdon Lions Club, PO Box 251, Abingdon, VA 24212.
