Eleanor Comer Preston 81, of Holston Valley died on July 16, 2011 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, four months after the passing of her beloved husband of 58 years, Dr. Frank Clark Preston.
Eleanor was mother to three children, UK tour director to hundreds, and gracious hostess to all. She was a graduate of the Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and a Registered Nurse. Eleanor was a Navy wife and the devoted wife of a Presbyterian minister. As such, she lived in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New York, Tennessee, Virginia, and Scotland, but ultimately retired here in her childhood home in Holston Valley, Tennessee.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Melissa Marie Preston, Mary Bradley Preston, and her son Jeffrey Frank Preston, three grandsons Andrew, Ash, and Zachary Preston. She leaves a sister, Jane Comer Zinhan, of Tampa Florida.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Green Spring Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm at the church, followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 pm, Committal will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to support local tornado recovery through Green Spring Presbyterian Church, or your local Habitat for Humanity.
