Eleanor Widener Honaker Sheffey

Abingdon, VA Mrs. Eleanor Widener Honaker Sheffey, age 85, passed away at her home on Friday, September 5, 2014. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church. She had been a fourteen-year employee of Appalachian Power and a five-year employee of Altemose Construction. Mrs. Sheffey was predeceased by her parents, Hugh Henderson and Lillian Catherine Widener; husbands, Jack Bufford Honaker, Sr. and Robert A. Sheffey, Jr.; son William David Sheffey; brothers Homer and Cecil Widener; and sister Velma Powers. She is survived by sons: Jack “Buddy” (Alice) Honaker of Abingdon; Bo (Teresa) Sheffey of Gray, TN; Charles (Deborah) Sheffey of Johnson City, TN; and John Allen (Marie) Sheffey of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Sharon (Steve) Schinasi of Cincinnati, OH; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great- grandchildren. A graveside service for Mrs. Eleanor Widener Honaker Sheffey will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. John Markel, Rev. Curtis Murray, and Pastor Scott Homesley officiating. Casket bearers will be Bo Sheffey, Charles Sheffey, John Sheffey, Logan Honaker, Chris Dixon, Josh Matney, Dennis Wyatt, and Robert Taylor. The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
