Elliott Eugene Stiltner, age 87, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. Born in Dickenson County, Virginia on November 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Josie and Rufus Stiltner. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Germany. Eugene was a retired coal miner and was a faithful member since 1985 of the Holston Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a friend to everyone and helped anyone who needed it. Eugene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Emma Stiltner; one daughter Connie Stiltner of Kingsport, TN; one grandson Shane Church and companion Melinda Blackburn of Abingdon; one granddaughter Destiny Stiltner of Knoxville; one brother Jack Stiltner of Breaks, VA; one sister Gayle Shoun of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Elliott Eugene Stiltner will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service officiated by Brothers Anion Cole, Alvin Dixon, Scott Laughlin and Jonathan Buttry. Interment will be on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Keith Mullins, Carl Mullins, Joel Taylor, Doby Cole, and Dean Shoun will serve as pall bearers. Friends wishing to attend the committal service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM. A visitation will be held on Sunday December 27, 2015 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM 7:00 PM. A song and prayer service will follow the visitation.
