Elsie Snead Grubb, a lifelong resident of Washington County , VA , passed away at her home on Friday, February 3, 2012.
She was a graduate of William King High School where she had the honor of perfect attendance and never tardy all her years of school. Elsie loved to garden, always had the most beautiful flowers gardens and loved to cook. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church .
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, James Frazier and Annie Cifers Snead and a brother, Samuel Snead.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Gilbert Gabriel Grubb; her brother, Irby Snead and wife, Elizabeth Phillips Snead; sister-in-law, Gladys White Snead; nephew, Samuel Wayne Snead and his wife, Rebecca M. Snead; great nephew, Samuel Wayne Snead, II and great niece, Meghan C. Snead.
The family expresses appreciation for all the care given by Patty Mink, Rebecca Fields, Debbie Molino, Susan Vail, Amber Sprolas, Debbie Woods, Shirley Clark and William Hubbard. Also, the family would like to extend special thanks to all the professional staff of Home Nursing of Southwest Virginia and HomeTown Hospice for their professional and loving care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2012 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Robert Lee Carbary. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park . Pallbearers will be Mike Mitchell, Samuel W. Snead, II, David Eastridge, Willie Sheppard, Mike Hagy and David Grubb.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shady Grove United Methodist Church , 329 Whites Mill Road , Abingdon , VA 24210 .
The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
