Ernest F. Junior Shrader, 85, passed away in Haines City, Florida on December 10, 2015. He was born August 16, 1930 in Washington County, Va. to Hassie Lee Counts and William Ernest Shrader. Junior was raised in Hayters Gap, Va. until joining the United States Army in 1948. He was stationed in Alaska for most of his service time. After being discharged from the Army, Junior was employed by Radford Arsenal and then by the Norfolk Shipyards, where he ended his employment as an equipment operator loading and unloading ships.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed traveling, fishing and, in his retirement, porch sitting. Junior was predeceased by his parents, and son Jerry W. Shrader. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Violet Waller Monroe Shrader from Lynchburg, VA; sons Gary A. Shrader and Luis Shrader; and numerous extended family members who will miss him very much. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever miss their Papa Jr.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon with Rev. David Robins officiating.
