Ernest Lagree Farmer, age 86, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served aboard the CV-32 Leyte. He was also a member of the York No.12 Masonic Lodge and the Jericho Shrine Temple No. 180. He was a member of Shiloh Christian Church in Pulaski, VA.

He was born to the late H.H. Farmer and Ethel Owens Farmer. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Doris R. Farmer; step-son, Ronald D. Tripp; brother, Francis Farmer; and two sisters, Evelyn Taylor and Edith Rorrer.

He is survived by three sons, Michael Farmer and wife Shirley of Johnson City, TN, Keith Farmer and special friend Lynn Bagnall of Bristol, TN, and Jeffrey Farmer and special friend Jenny Helbert of Bristol, VA; daughter, Rebecca Neal and special friend Wayne Timberlake of Abingdon, VA; brother, Melvin Farmer and wife Jean of Winston-Salem, NC; twin sister, Annis Farris of Newbern, VA; sister-in-law, Artie Farmer of Pulaski, VA; three grandchildren, Christopher Tripp, Jonathan Neal, and Amanda Livingston and husband Keith; one great grandchild, Nathan Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. The Brethren of the York No.12 Masonic Lodge will present Masonic Funeral Rites at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. A second visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home prior to services. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with interment to follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Military Honors will be presented by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Pallbearers will be Michael Farmer, Keith Farmer, Jeffrey Farmer, Rodney Farmer, Jonathan Neal, and Wayne Timberlake. Honorary pallbearers will be past and current employees of the Kroger Company, Brethren of the York No.12 Masonic Lodge, and Brethren of the Jericho Shrine Temple No. 180.
