Ethel Dickey

Ethel Dickey, age 94, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 26, 2021 at NHC Bristol. She was born January 16, 1927, to the late John Roland Edwards and Dona Baldwin Edwards in Dickenson County, Va.
Ethel was a mother of 10 children and an accomplished homemaker who went to work as a CNA in her sixties after her children were grown. She formerly attended Souls Harbor in Rosedale, Va. and was baptized at the Old Regular Baptist Church in Harmon, Va.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Eugene Thurman Dickey; two sons, Johnny Dickey and Ronnie Dickey; daughter Gaynell Johnson; four sons-in-law Kenny Endicott, Dean Marrs, Scottie Shortt, and Robert Ward; two granddaughters, Ashley Dickey and Michelle Endicott; and ten siblings.
She is survived by seven children: Brenda Crabtree and husband, Dickie, of Cedar Bluff, Va.; son-in-law Troy Johnson, of Abingdon, Va.; Linda Endicott of Rural Retreat, Va.; Rita Willis and husband, Michael, of Lakeland, Fla.; Kathy Ward of Bristol, Va.; Debbie Marrs of Kodak, TN; Tammy Dickey of Staunton, Va.; and Anthony Dickey of Abingdon, Va.; brother, Henry Edwards and wife, Pam, of Spartanburg, S.C.; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Matthew Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Anthony Dickey, Dickie Crabtree, Troy Johnson, Michael Willis, Mark Endicott, Matt Willis, Jason Ward, Jonathan Dickey, Brian Marrs, and Rickie Dickey will serve as pallbearers. Travis Ward will serve as an honorary bearer. Visitation will be on Monday, April 5, 2021 from noon - 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted.
