Evelyn Joyce Henderson Jones, 83, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Grace Health Care.
Longtime resident of Abingdon, she was born to the late Alton and Nora Henderson. She was a dedicated member of Abingdon First Assembly of God and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting and most of all enjoyed flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, William "Bill" Jones; a son, Danny Henderson and his wife Jane of Lebanon, VA.; two daughters, Stephanie Havens and her husband Paul of Greenville, SC; and Cynthia Dawn Garza and her husband Tim of Abingdon, VA; along with six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 8:00 PM at Farris Cremation and Funeral Center, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210 with Pastor Roger Williams and Pastor William Spann officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 8:00 PM. A graveside committal service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 2:00 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend will gather at the cemetery by 1:45pm.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Garza, Tim Garza, Paul Havens, Calvin Odum, Alvin Widener, and Joe Tolliver. Honorary pallbearers will be James Odum, Jimmy Jones, Nathan Havens, Dr. Ernest Henry, William Slate, Aaron Justus, Charlie McCrady, and Eric Allison.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ernest Henry and staff for the care they provided for Evelyn.
