Everett Wayne Fleming

Everett Wayne Fleming, age 80, of Abingdon, Va. passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center.  He was born February 27, 1939, to the late Leonard Fleming and Hattie Counts Fleming in Dickenson County, Va.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church.  Wayne retired with over 40 years of driving a tractor trailer.    

In addition to his parents, Wayne was also preceded in death by his step-daughter, Deliliah Blevins; brother, Sid Fleming; and two grandsons, T.J. Hooker and Eddie Rath.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Ellen Shepard Fleming; three sons: Darryl Fleming of Liberty, N.C.; Kenneth Fleming and wife, Lisa, of Orlando, Fla.; and Jon Fleming and wife, Ann, of Snow Camp, N.C.; two daughters, Regina Vernon and husband, Ron, of Greensboro, N.C. and Rena Hooker and husband, Tim, of Greensboro, N.C.; three step-sons:  Michael Miller and wife, Lib, of West Jefferson, N.C.; Austin Miller of West Jefferson, N.C.; and Steve Miller of Lansing, N.C.; step-daughter, Racheal Jones and husband, Randy, of Lansing, N.C.; brother, Bob Fleming of Englewood, Ohio; two sisters, Vickie Newberry of Phoenix, Ariz. and Nadine Johnson of Englewood, Ohio; half-brother, Gary Edwards and wife, Harriet, of Dayton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; 17 step- great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.          

A funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, 16570 Providence Rd., Abingdon, VA 24210, with Elder Don Stacy and Bro. Mark Colley officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the Virginia National Guard.  A committal service will be held on Wednesday following the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 1035 Old Orchard Rd., Quaker Gap, NC 27053.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church.
