Minister Everette Gaylon Morefield, age 75, passed on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose". Romans 8:28

Everette was a Church of Christ minister for 50 years and a faithful servant of God. He was a member of Abingdon Church of Christ. Everette also worked with many congregations, retiring from Lebanon Virginia Church of Christ after 20 years there but continued preaching at other congregations until his death.

Mr. Morefield is preceded in death by his parents, Luke Morefield and Ann Winters Morefield; two sisters, Diane Guy and Nancy Cannon; three brothers, James Morefield, Luke Morefield, Jr., and Stacy Morefield; and his beloved dog, Missi.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Eggers Morefield; two daughters, Glenda Hockett and husband (special son) Jeff of Abingdon, VA, and Sandra Sells of Abingdon, VA; granddaughter, Staci Hockett Davidson and husband Shane of Saltville, VA; two great-granddaughters, Lindsey Davidson, and the apple of his eye and his "Sugar Baby", Fallon Davidson.

Everette also leaves behind five sisters, Bessie Hammons and husband Boyd of Mt. City, TN, Mary Townsend and husband Wilbert of Mt. City, TN, Peggy Woodward and husband Bill of Mt. City, TN, Jeannie Arnette and husband Junior of Boone, NC, and Gracie Osborne and husband Carl of Butler, TN; brothers, Earl Morefield and wife Anna Ruth of Butler, TN, Ed Morefield and wife Helen of Butler, TN, Harold Morefield and wife Louise of Mt. City, TN, and Larry Morefield and wife Cathy of Butler, TN; many nieces and nephews; and his sweet feline companions, Boots, KoKo, and Daisy.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Ministers Bill Haywood, Buddy Morefield, and Wesley Simons officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. just prior to the service.

A cryptside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Phil Blevins, Delmer Farmer, Joe Scroggin, whom are all Elders of Abingdon Church of Christ, and Johnny Farmer, David Anderson, and John Campbell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Hockett, Shane Davidson, Dr. Sue Prill, Dr. John Griffith, Dr. John A. Fincher, and Dr. Simon Pennings. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to convene at the mausoleum by 11:00 a.m.
